The Government of Cambodia has updated the entry conditions for international travelers entering the Kingdom, with different steps depending on whether the arrivals are sponsored (Sponsorship Mechanism issued on 4 August 2020).
From 18 November 2020 onward, the sponsored passenger must be the executive director, the shareholder of a corporation, president of a business association, or owner of an investment project in a special economic zone, who are responsible for all the expenses they guarantee, including treatment costs, if they are tested positive for coronavirus at any point.
The diplomats must also send a certificate to show that they are free of viruses within 72 hours of their departure, followed by a test upon arrival, and wait at least 24 hours at a hotel or quarantine facility while waiting for their results.
In the meantime, arrivals from other countries or those that do not have sponsorship are not allowed to self-quarantine. They must stay in a government-appointed hotel for a mandatory two-week quarantine period, with a $2,000-deposit and mandatory health insurance still required.
In addition, Cambodians—who hold either a Cambodian or a foreign passport—must also undergo quarantine under the control of the state. They can opt to stay free of charge in state-run quarantine centers or in a designated hotel where they would be charged at the same rate as foreigners.
